Comment

My piece "Nocturnum I" is the first part of a larger scale string quartet project called "Tenebrae factae sunt". This title refers to the texts of Good Friday of Holy Week. I took these Latin texts as an exercise to apply my new composition system based on the technique of "langage communicalbe" that Olivier Messiaen left written in his organ piece "Meditation sur le mistère de la Sainté Trinité". Freely, from his serialist practice, I create my own laws to organize the notes that appear from the transliteration of letters to notes of the sacred texts. In the score you can see the entire text, letter by letter, under the music to be performed. For me and for now, this quartet is an independent and complete work that can be performed without taking into account the rest of the project that is still to be done.
